Mainz-Groningen FDI-Workshop

2021 Workshop canceled

Given the many uncertainties that are still associated with the Corona pandemic, we have decided to cancel the 6th Mainz/Groningen Workshop on FDI and Multinational Corporations 2021. We hope to be able to meet in an environment that allows for the accustomed intellectual exchange and informal interaction in fall 2022.

The official call for papers will be circulated by the end of June 2022. The deadline for submissions will be in late August 2022.

About the Workshop

The Mainz-Groningen Workshop on Foreign Direct Investment and Multinational Corporations is scheduled to take place each year in fall (November) and jointly organized by Philipp Harms (University of Mainz), Nils Steiner (University of Mainz), and Konstantin Wacker (University of Groningen) supported by the research unit “Interdisciplinary Public Policy” (IPP) at University of Mainz.

Calls for papers are usually issued in late spring (May/June).

The goal of the workshop is to foster the understanding of the role of FDI and multinationals in the world economy from a multi-disciplinary perspective, especially its interactions with politics, institutions, distributional aspects, and perceptions towards globalization. Furthermore, we support the interaction of researchers at various stages of their career.

Keynote speakers on the first four workshops were Ron Davies, Beata S. Javorcik, Farid Toubal, Carolina Sanchez-Villegas and Kalina Manova. Papers presented by workshop participants have been published in leading general interest and international economics field journals, such as Journal of International Economics, European Economic Review, or Canadian Journal of Economics.

Programs and abstracts of papers presented of previous workshops are available for [2019] [2018] [2017] [2016] [2015].
